One of InsideFlyer’s great friends and supporters, Tom, has been training all year to complete an Ironman Triathlon in order to raise money for Children with Cancer – a charity dedicated to funding cancer research and supporting families going through unimaginably tough times.
If you’re wondering what an Ironman Triathlon consists of, imagine running a marathon (26.22 miles)… immediately after cycling 112 miles… which itself comes straight after a 2.4 mile open-water swim.
In other words, it’s a truly exceptional feat of physical endurance for anyone who isn’t a professional athlete. Tom is not a professional athlete – he’s a normal guy with a busy job and a young family. I’ve genuinely no idea how he has managed to find the time and energy to complete the endless hours of training required.
Here’s a message from him:
“In just over a week’s time on 6 October, I will be taking part in Ironman Barcelona, which I am competing in to raise money for the wonderful charity, Children with Cancer. Thanks to friends, colleagues and family, so far the fundraising total stands at a superb £11,161. However, it’s for a truly amazing cause and I want to push the final total as high as possible!
I was shocked and absolutely delighted when Joe suggested sharing the fundraising page on InsideFlyer. I know that InsideFlyer readers (and the wider frequent flyer/ points & miles community!) are an incredibly generous bunch.
If you are able to donate, absolutely any amount is enormously appreciated – thank you!!!”
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿?
I ran the London Marathon back in 2008 and 2009 for Children with Cancer, and was privileged to see the incredible work they do in providing care for children suffering from cancer, respite for their families and funding work to prevent or reduce the effects of this indiscriminate disease.
The research funded by Children with Cancer helps improve childhood cancer survival rates and find kinder, more effective treatments to reduce long-term side effects. This ground-breaking research saves children’s lives and would otherwise go unfunded.

If you would like to donate, you can earn points/miles by using a credit card (without an additional fee) on the donation page here.
As you can see below, you can even use an Amex – so, if anyone fancies donating £10,000 to trigger their British Airways 2-4-1 Certificate right now, the option is there! 😉
Bottom line
Tom is undertaking a remarkable challenge in order to raise money for a fantastic charity. If you can make a donation (however big or small!), please do so here.
Many thanks!!!
