Hilton Honors is yet again offering a 100% bonus when you buy 10,000 or more points. The promotion will run from 10 September until 22 October, 2019.
Since points usually cost 1 US cents each, this promotion reduces that cost to 0.5 US cents. In sterling terms, you’ll pay a bit more than 0.4p per point.
At the moment, you are still capped at buying 80,000 points (or 160,000 points post-bonus), although the T&Cs say that you can buy 160,000 points per year (which ought to be pre-bonus).
There is no specific landing page for this promotion. You simply should log in to your Hilton Honors account and look for the subheading entitled “Buy, Gift, Pool & Transfer”.
Does This Deal Make Sense?
Since Hilton Honors moved to a dynamic pricing model, you will struggle to obtain much more than 0.4p in value for your Hilton points. I recently took a look at the value of an Honors point and came to the conclusion that they are only worth 0.4 cents (0.33p)
But that said… there are still many ways to come out ahead by buying points during this promo and spending them right away. Some of the best ways to obtain outsized value from your Hilton points are:
- High-end properties such as the Conrad Maldives
- Peak season at hotels still respecting a cap on standard room reward pricing
- Fifth night free award bookings for Silver, Gold and Diamond members
- Hotels costing 5,000, 10,000 or sometimes 20,000 points per night (there aren’t too many good ones left)
