Iberia Plus has returned yet again with its standard offer of a 50% bonus when buying Avios. The promotion will run until 25 July, 2019.

Normally you can purchase a maximum of 100,000 Avios per year from Iberia Plus, but for the duration of this promo, you can buy 200,000 Avios instead. With the 50% bonus added on top, you would end up with 300,000 Avios added to your Iberia Plus account. Naturally, you can send these over to British Airways Executive Club thanks to “Combine my Avios“.

How Much Will it Cost Me?

The cheapest “per Avios” price requires you to purchase 100,000 Avios for 1,800 euros. Thanks to the 50% bonus, you’d actually receive 150,000 Avios.

Now is a particularly poor time to be spending euros, as the exchange rate has fallen to roughly 1.11 euros per pound. So, you’d be spending approximately £1640 for 150,000 Avios –> 1.1p per Avios.

Should I Buy?

1.1p is certainly better than regular price, but this isn’t a price at which I’d speculatively buy Avios.

Of course, if you require a substantial number of Avios to use an American Express 2-for-1 voucher in Club World or First Class, or simply to book a Business Class reward on Iberia –> then you can easily save money against paid fares by buying Avios this July.
