Even though my own experience has been mixed, there is little doubt that many travellers love Airbnb. If you are travelling in a larger group, to a remote area, or simply don’t like hotels, the opportunity to easily book a flat or house online can be hugely valuable. But for the miles and points hobbyist, Airbnb bookings have never really provided much extra value in the form of miles or free stays. Until now…
Members of British Airways Executive Club are now able to earn 3 Avios for each £1/€1/$1 spent – obviously to the extent you can choose to pay in dollars you should consider it (as you should earn more Avios that way).
In addition, if you’ve never used Airbnb before, or are willing to use a new email address 😉 , you can receive a 500 Avios bonus with your first booking.
Details can be found on this BA webpage.
PLUS £25 off your first stay with Airbnb
Join using this link here and you’ll receive £25 off your first stay of £55+.
Looking at the terms and conditions, it seems that you should still get the 500 Avios bonus too. £25 is worth a lot more than 500 Avios regardless though, so you’d be better off using a referral link to sign up even if the 500 Avios bonus doesn’t track properly. Feel free to leave your own referral links in the comments.
In a similar vein, you also have the opportunity to earn £230 by listing a property on Airbnb via Topcashback in the UK (the BAEC version is only 8,000 Avios). I suspect that many readers don’t particularly fancy strangers staying at their home or running afoul of any local regulations, but of course you could always list your home, rent it via Airbnb to a family member, and then decide after all that you don’t want to continue renting out your place… 😉

Hmmm… I see that HfP has run a very similar post today involving the exact same combination of Airbnb bits and pieces…
