Craig published an article earlier today explaining how you can earn 2,500+ Alaska Miles with Alaska MileagePlan’s new hotel booking site. As regular readers will know, my love of Alaska Miles knows few bounds, so I immediately dropped what I was doing and began experimenting…
Alaska’s hotel booking site is managed by Rocketmiles. Rocketmiles generally restricts these sort of generous bonuses to bookings over a certain value so I wasn’t optimistic that I’d be able to find anything amazing, but decided it was worth a quick look – and I’m very glad I did!
Right now you can earn 2,500 Alaska Miles and get a night at a hotel for as little as £17:
You may be able to find even lower rates, but that’s the best I came across after a few minutes of looking.
I value Alaska Miles at at least 1.5p each, so 2,500 are worth £37.50+ to me, making this a potentially very interesting promotion.
As you can see though, the examples above are for not particularly great looking hotels in Kuala Lumpur – which is obviously neither convenient or desirable for most readers. The good news is that you can pick up the bonus miles at 5* chain hotels too:
The even better news is that you can also get the bonus at good value hotels right here in the UK too, like the Holiday Inn Express in Bradford for £30:
If you’re looking for something similar near to where you live, Sundays are usually cheapest, but Fridays and Mondays are often worth checking too.
Note that the bonus miles promotion is scheduled to end on 30th June 2019, but could be pulled or restricted sooner.
Bottom line
If you saw somewhere really cheap on offer where you were travelling, you may even want to consider ‘mattress running’ (checking in but not staying) just to get the miles. Personally though, I think I’d rather just book somewhere a bit more expensive for a stay I actually need/want to make and see the miles as a significant partial rebate.
If you’re wondering why I rate Alaska Miles so highly, have a read of this article to whet your luxury travel appetite…

I spent at least an hour searching around SE Asia and couldn’t beat 17 quid. Nice one…
