Any readers who are IHG Rewards Club members are hopefully aware that the latest Accelerate promotion is running until 31 August, 2019. (click here for details) Hopefully you have registered already, but if not you can reach the Dashboard by clicking here.
As usual, you will have been given individual targets to meet. However, in recent days many members have received an additional target. You can receive 2,000 points for one paid stay during June.
You might think that this is irrelevant – £8 (at best) in value for a one-night stay – but it also appears that other requirements have been eased.
An Example…
Here are my own targets.
The important element to note is the Achievement Bonus. Previously I needed to complete 3 of 3 offers for 23,100 points. Now I only require 3 of the 4 offers, including the new June stay target.
What does this mean? Well, instead of requiring eight paid nights – two stays of which would need to be booked as a Bonus Points Package – I can now earn 23,100 + 6,600 + 2,000 = 31,700 bonus points by booking 2 1-night Bonus Point Package stays, as long as one of those stays takes place in June.
So, instead of being a promotion that I planned to ignore, I can pick up a nice chunk of points with two one-night stays.
Because it comes up so often, it’s worth highlighting that award stays and Points & Cash stays DO NOT QUALIFY for nearly all typical Accelerate targets.

I didnt even get the 2000 points for a saty in June – spire elite upgrades have plummetted in recent weeks too
I do not see any dashboard offers except for a 20% rebate on bookings!

I now got an offer via Accelerate 2- it says it started 01/2019 but I only got this via email today . It’s for 95,400 bonus points!! Surprise, surprise!

Yes, when I do try to register – message comes up to say- thanks for your continued membership- please see your offers but I do not see any dashboards or any new offers !!
Still unable to register with message “We appreciate your loyalty. Please see IHG Rewards Club offers available now”. Tried desktop and phone but get the same message so it looks like they have started to exclude people from the accelerate promotion.
Yes- that is the message I get too!! Appears that being a platinum elite member doesn’t count.
This makes my target (which would give me 61000 bonus points) significantly more achievable.
Does it count towards the target though? I’d be a bit wary until the dashboard gives a tick and updates the percentage of completed tasks.
There’s always the chance of a glitch to be sure.
Last time IHG did something like this, the “stay in x month” element did count towards triggering the main bonus on my account (I was initially sceptical too). That said, it’s IHG IT, so it’s impossible to guarantee that it will work the same way this time for everyone – but it probably will.
My maximum is 18,500. So not interested !!
I don’t have an achievement bonus on my tailored offer (Spire member). Just 24,300 bonus points by completing three types of offer clearly outside of my normal booking activity. Probably the worst offer I’ve had out of all of the Accelerate promotions.

I was also targeted with the June promo, but looks like it isn’t working this time. Needless to say, I will be escalating soon…
