There are currently some excellent Business Class fares available on a range of airlines from Stockholm to Auckland, including Air China from just £1790 Return!
I was only looking closely at dates in May 2019, but similar fares should be available for much of the rest of the year too.
What’s Air China Business Class like?
I’ve not tried it so I can’t offer a real opinion, but it looks ‘ok’.
The flights in the example above are on an Airbus A330 and a Boeing 787, which both seem to feature lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 layout. That’s certainly not a bad way to fly compared to Economy(!!!), but isn’t really competitive these days. Having read quite a few reviews, food and service actually seems to be better than I would have expected, though not top notch.
If you fancy something more luxurious, the German version of Momondo is finding some superb Singapore Airlines Business Class fares, from ~£1,965:
For anyone chasing British Airways Tier Points, Qatar Airways is also an option from £2,164+:
Bottom line
I’m not sure there’s really a good way to fly to New Zealand from Europe – regardless of how you do it, it will cost you a lot of cash or miles (or both) and will involve spending more time on planes than most people would find comfortable.
It’s undoubtedly a beautiful country though, so under £2000 to fly there and back in Singapore Airlines Business Class isn’t a bad deal at all, if you do want to go. For comparison, Business Class flights from the UK are usually £3,000+, making a quick stop in Stockholm en route very worthwhile.
