Hilton Honors is once again offering a 100% bonus when you purchase Honors Points.
The 100% bonus is available until 20th September 2018 (or until 3,500 packages are bought – whichever is first).
Good deal?
Hilton Honors offers a variation on this deal quite frequently, so unless you think you’ll need the Points soon, I wouldn’t be in a rush to stock up in a big way. That said, I do always find it useful to have at least a small stash of different hotel points handy for the sort of unexpected last-minute bookings that life can throw up, so if I didn’t already have a decent balance I’d be a buyer.
The 100% bonus means that you would effectively be buying Hilton Points at a rate of ~0.38p (0.5 cents) per Point, which is a tiny bit under what I value them at. You’d struggle to lose money buying at that price and with a specific redemption in mind could get good value here. Examples include:
- Category 1 and Category 2 stays for ~£19 and ~£38 per night
- A few very expensive high Category hotels, like the Conrad Maldives
- ‘5th night free’ redemptions for Silver, Gold and Diamond members
It’s also worth bearing in mind that Points bookings are flexible and that there aren’t any additional taxes (or ‘resort fees’) to pay, so you need to compare like with like when calculating whether buying and redeeming Points is better value than paying cash (also factor in the Points you would earn from a cash stay though).
Bottom line
As ever, whether the Hilton Points bonus is worth taking advantage of depends entirely on your circumstances. It’s as good an offer as we ever see from Hilton, but it pops up regularly, so I wouldn’t really be in a rush to buy unless you have a short term use.

I hope this doesn’t mean they are going to devalue soon 🙁
Miles Hunt says
No reason to think so. These offers are very frequent.
Craig Sowerby says
Well. The devaluation has already happened, in the sense that many hotels now work on the basis of dynamic pricing of award nights.
You are unlikely to lose out badly by buying points at this price (apart from missing promos such as the 2,500 LH miles per paid stay), but at the same time there are very few sweetspots left for getting substantially more value out of Honors points.
