Hot on the heels of the amazing ex-London fares we flagged a couple of days ago, Norwegian have just announced a flash sale on their East Coast USA routes to New York Stewart and Providence from Belfast. Outbound flights start at £79, with this price available for pretty much every flight in September and October. Inbounds are consistently around the £82 mark, giving a return fare of around £161!
These fares are available until 22:59 BST on the 6th August, for travel between 1st September 2018 and 27th October 2018. You need to ensure campaign code FLYFORLESS has been entered for the discount to apply.
Now these routes are already pretty cheap, with non-sale prices of £99 outbound – but that £20 saving could pay for your positioning flight from Manchester to Belfast for example:
It’s worth pointing out this is a basic fare which includes no advance seat selection, checked luggage or food.
It’s also important to know the route is operated by one of Norwegian’s new 737MAX narrowbody aircraft which you might be more used to on a short-haul hop to Europe rather than a transatlantic jaunt, and that New York Stewart is about a 90min coach ride from Manhattan. Providence TF Green Airport is about the same from downtown Boston, but Providence itself has plenty to see and could be worth a visit. Bear this in mind if you’re planning a city break rather than heading “up state”!
However, the flight to the East Coast isn’t thaaaat long (7hrs), and if you take your own entertainment and snacks, and remember the immigration queues when you land will likely be significantly shorter than if you landed into a major hub like BOS or JFK, it’ll be perfectly acceptable – especially at that price!
If you would like a more “full service” experience, you can upgrade your ticket to LowFare+ which includes advance seat selection, a 20kg checked bag and 2 meals which also has the £20 discount applied to the outbound flight which works out at £124 one way, or £252.20 return – comparable to those great fares from London but obviously better if you are based in Northern Ireland as you don’t have to position to London.
One ways can be useful too…
At prices like this, Norwegian can be an excellent way to position yourself to the USA in order to redeem fewer miles for First/Business class, or incur much lower surcharges. For example most Alaska Mileage Plan redemptions, and some of the best value ones, require you to touch North America – usually starting or ending your journey there so this could be your positioning flight before you head off to South Africa (via Hong Kong, with a stopover for as long as you like!) in Cathay Pacific First Class!
Let us know if you book one of these how your trip was!
