Craig has recently written about the possibility of bagging 1,000 free Virgin miles simply for setting your Clubcard account to ‘auto-convert’. Unlike in previous quarters, there is no conversion bonus to Virgin this time.

Those of us (vaguely) hoping for a Clubcard to Avios conversion bonus have also once again been disappointed. BA has sent out emails boasting that members will receive 1,200 Avios for every £5 of Clubcard vouchers converted. This is the standard ratio of  1 Clubcard point = 2.4 Avios, so nothing to write home about really.

But if you need to convert Avios immediately, on the other hand, you might as well participate in the prize draw. If you convert £5 of Clubcard vouchers into Avios between now and 31 May 2018, you will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a five-day trip to Nashville for 2 people, including BA Economy (!) return flights as well as four night’s accommodation. You would need to travel between 14 July and 31 October 2018 if you are the winner.

Good deal?

I would have much preferred a conversion bonus. The prospect of a transatlantic economy flight doesn’t appeal to me too much to be honest. But if you need to convert to Avios immediately anyway, you might as well give it a go and enter…

There is nothing, I don’t think, that would stop you from converting existing vouchers into Avios, whilst registering to auto-convert future points to Virgin to bag the 1,000 bonus miles that Craig wrote about.
