You can currently book some excellent Qatar Airways Business Class fares to Thailand – starting at just ~£980 for return flights between Berlin and Pattaya.

To get the best fares, head over to the Qatar Airways website and use the promo code QRSUBSCRIBER.

Availability looks pretty good most of the year, with the exception of the Summer, and the fare should be available until 7th March 2018.

Where should I credit Qatar Business Class flights?

These fares all seem to book into fare class ‘R’, which means you should earn 100%-125% of flown miles, depending on the programme you decide to credit to.

For many readers, I would suggest that British Airways Executive Club (BAEC) is a good option for these particular flights. Although some of the other types of Miles available are more valuable than Avios, you’re not going to miss out on a huge haul here, and the real beauty of crediting Qatar Business Class flights to BAEC is the amount of status ‘Tier Points’ you rack up.

Berlin to Pattaya (via Doha) would earn ~15,000 Avios and 560 Tier Points – almost enough for BAEC Silver status.

JAL Mileage Bank could also be a good option if you’re into more ‘exotic’ Miles.

Is Qatar Airways Business Class any good?

Excellent – and for the price, I would say world-leading. You can read some great reviews over at InsideFlyer Germany (just use Google translate):

With Qatar Airways you have the chance to enjoy what I believe are some of the best Business Class seats in the sky. Onboard the Airbus A380, the A350 and the Boeing 787, Qatar Airways has installed a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone configuration.

The Boeing 777 has a 2-2-2 configuration with lie flat seats, as do most Airbus A330s.

Bottom line

We see a lot of cheap Qatar Business Class sales these days, but they really are remarkably good value!

Like all of the seats of this style the area for your feet is a bit too cramped when in bed mode & you’re on your side.

I see the review above it is the 2-2-2 which is fine if you have one of the middle pair (I have flown it before).

You don’t mention the 19 hour layover in Doha on the outward leg…! Or the 1.5hr. Taxi from Utapao airport(part military base with no facilities) to Downtown Bangkok…

I don’t think many people would fly into UTP to then taxi over to BKK. As Boris said the other day, there are other things to do in Thailand than just sightsee…

As for the layover, indeed that isn’t great, but it is long enough to get a good sleep and/or a wander around Doha…

Obviously it’s not the same for everyone, but I’d personally see the layover in Doha as an advantage. As regards Bangkok – the flight is primarily for Pattaya and the islands etc round there. The fact you can also visit Bangkok pretty easily/cheaply as well is a great additional option.
