Whenever one makes (and cancels) as many hotel reservations as I do, one tends to be become familiar with the promotional practices of the two major cashback websites: Quidco and Topcashback.
In my experience, the standard cashback on Holiday Inn (and other IHG brand) stays is 8%. At any given time, however, one of Quidco or Topcashback will have a higher cashback rate. In my experience this runs from 8.5% for Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels, up to 15% for Intercontinental. So… barely relevant, unless you are looking for a Crowne Plaza or Intercontinental.
This morning I was double-checking a few of my flexible reservations for price changes – one of my money-saving travel hacking habits – and sure enough an upcoming Holiday Inn stay was showing a lower price. So I decided to cancel and re-book to lock in the lower room rate.
But when I checked the cashback websites, I noticed this on Quidco:
I cannot recall ever seeing cashback on Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express bookings at 15%! But, indeed, that is the cashback rate available TODAY ONLY on Quidco!
So, if you have any upcoming stays at a Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express, it is probably worth your while to:
- Check to see whether the flexible rate is still the same or cheaper for any reservations you might have
- Book via Quidco to lock-in a 15% cashback rate, instead of the 8 / 8.5% you might already have triggered
- Cancel your previous booking
Of course, if you had been thinking about a Holiday Inn / Holiday Inn Express stay, you might want to get it booked today!

It is so rare for HI and HIE to do 15%! I had already booked the rest of my Hotel Indigo stays for the remainder of this year at 15% through a previous rate increase back in December with the exception of the last two bookings for December 2018 which I only managed to bag at 12%. But those bookings are now at 15% – thanks Craig!
