Members-only booking site Club 1 Hotels is back with another potentially interesting promotion, this time offering a booking credit of up to $300.

For all bookings made between now and 15th February 2018, for stays all the way through to 31st March 2019, you will receive the following:

  • Spend $250 to $499 and receive a $25 booking credit
  • Spend $500 to $999 and receive a $50 booking credit
  • Spend $1,000 to $1,999 and receive a $100 booking credit
  • Spend $2,000 to $2,999 and receive a $200 booking credit
  • Spend $3,000 or more and receive a $300 booking credit

As you can see, if you make a booking just over one of the thresholds, you are essentially getting a rebate of ~10%. If your booking is just under one of thresholds, you’re looking at a rebate of ~5%.

What is Club 1 Hotels?

Club 1 Hotels sells hotel rooms at wholesale rates (without taking a commission), which means they can offer some of the lowest rates around. While most hotel booking sites (Expedia etc) take a commission on the rate that you pay for your stay, Club 1 Hotels offers you the direct price.

As a result, Club 1 can be one of the very cheapest ways to book  3, 4 and 5-star hotels. Let’s look at a quick example:

How about a luxury 3 night break to NYC, staying at the 5* Rosewood Carlyle?

Club 1 Hotels total (inc taxes and fees): $1,070.48

Direct with Rosewood (inc taxes and fees): $1,721 – though rate does include breakfast

Booking.com: $1,903.88

It’s important to point out that Club 1 isn’t always going to manage to save you that sort of money, and sometimes it may not be cheaper at all. Think of it as an additional tool for saving money on your travels, rather than the only site you need to check. Also bear in mind that you are very unlikely to receive status benefits or earn loyalty points / status credits when booking through Club 1.

Bottom line

If you spot a deal you like on the Club 1 Hotels site, you can currently get a decent booking credit back on top. As always though, remember to check prices available elsewhere online and to factor in cashback, elite benefits, etc, that you might be able to get by booking in other ways.
