New IHG Accelerate Promo – Share Your Offers!

IHG has launched the page for its next big promotion – another version of the excellent personalised Accelerate promos we’ve seen many times now over the last couple of years.

The new Accelerate promo runs from 1st January to 30th April 2018 and you need to register for it here.

My offer looks decent but unspectacular, averaging at 10,000 bonus Points per nightif I have 3 different 1-night stays at 3 different brands (which given my usual stay pattern is actually quite likely).

It’s always interesting to hear what IHG are offering other people, so please gloat/commiserate in the comments!

Terms

You must be an IHG® Rewards Club member and must register your member number in advance to participate in “Accelerate” (“Promotion”). Upon Registration (as defined below), members will be presented with the opportunity to earn at least 30,000 bonus points upon completion of all offers presented. By clicking “one click registration” you are registering for Accelerate and agreeing to receive IHG Rewards Club marketing communications and the terms and conditions of the Campaign and Privacy Statement. Members will be awarded bonus points listed for each individual Promotional offer (“Offer”) after completing the requirements of each individual Offer. Each Offer must be completed between 1 January 2018 and 30 April 2018 (both dates inclusive) (“Registration”). 

The bonus points earned through individual Offers can be used for redemption opportunities towards Reward Nights, merchandise and other redemption opportunities. See individual Offers for the specific terms and conditions per Offer type. A Stay is defined as per IHG® Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out (“Stay”). Bonus points are not issued for Non-Qualifying Room Rates or Non-Qualifying Stays. “Non-Qualifying Room Rates” or “Non-Qualifying Stay” include the following: net wholesale individual and group rate, certain package rates, employee discount rate, friends and family rate, crew rate, special discounted contract rates, seasonal worker/crew rate, 50% travel club discount rate, travel industry discount rate, distressed passenger rate, IHG® Rewards Club Reward Nights/Airline Hotel Reward rate, rates booked through third party web sites, complimentary hotel Stays and any other rates not defined as a Qualifying Room Rate at IHG’s sole discretion. Only one room per member per Qualifying Stay will be awarded the applicable bonus points, or other benefits (if any) available under the applicable Offer. If more than one member checks into the same room, only one member is eligible for the applicable bonus points, or other benefits (if any) available under the applicable Offer.  Each Promotion Offer of bonus points is available only once to each member. IHG Rewards Club Members with a Miles earning preference will earn Points. No retroactive bonus points will be awarded for Stays prior to Registration. Except as otherwise stated in the terms and conditions, please allow up to 2 to 3 weeks for Promotion Offer bonus points to be credited after checkout.         I need to remember to delete the App and all traces of it.

        I’d much rather have a target of downloading the thing than having to actually use it 2-3 times and miss out on cashback!

      Might be worth trying with a different browser or just waiting a bit – the site is definitely acting a bit weird still at the moment, but with IHG IT I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised!

    A stay I need in order to hit all the goals for the extra bonus in the current promo hasn’t tracked.

      Kick up as much of a fuss as you can – they do normally sort things (as long as the stay was eligible) but it can be a bit of a pain.

        Yeah I’ve been getting very generic replies not actually acknowledging that they see my point or the problem or will resolve it !! That’s with the IHG Rewards team via email. I’ve been very impressed with them in the past but this time less so. Not dismissing me, but just not giving any firm guarantees that they will ensure it tracks properly.

        Have now sent (about the 6th email) not only to IHGRewards team but also copying the hotel in question asking them both to look into it, find the problem and resolve it.

        Fingers crossed.
        This one stay allows me to hit three of my goals which account for 31,000 points so I ain’t going out without a fight if needs be.

          Yep – definitely worth a bit of a scrap for that many Points! The problem is that the front line customer service people in these situations almost always know less about the promo than you do. If the terms are clear, I would firmly request that they pass it on to whoever it is who actually can make that commitment – in the end you’ll probably get to someone who doesn’t understand the promo either, but is at least empowered to offer to give you the Points if it doesn’t track automatically. It’s far from good, but the fact is that if you are persistent/irritating enough, they’ll usually sort you out just to make you go away.

      Been looking at the Ts & Cs of the goals and only ONE of my goals states that the qualifying stay must be booked and consumed between 1st Jan & 30th April the rest just say consumed, no mention of booking between the dates.

      eg… Book & Consume…
      “Book 2 stay(s) with the IHG® App and earn 2,200 bonus points.
      Must be an IHG® Rewards Club member and must register your member number in advance to participate in this Offer (“Registration”). Number of bonus points listed above will be awarded after required number of Qualifying Stays are booked via the official IHG® App and consumed between 1 January 2018 and 30 April 2018 (both dates inclusive) at participating…..blah, blah, blah hotel brands…..

      The rest simply state that the qualifying stay must be consumed within the dates.

      So unless there are some hidden Ts & Cs I haven’t spotted I think most of my goals only need to be nights / stays consumed within the promo period but can be booked prior to the promo period.

      Interesting and the way it should be, to my mind anyway !!

      It won’t count for things like “Book with the App”, but is generally fine for other targets that don’t have the word “Book” in them!

    Disappointing that I got the same goals as last time which I was unable to meet. 500 for deleting and redownloading the app is nice but other than that, difficult to do cost effectively living in the south east. Guess I’ll try again next time!

    One of my targets reads…

    I probably won’t be able to make 6,600 stays within 4 months !! There aren’t enough days !!
    What does this target actually mean ?! What do IHG think it means 🙂
    The Ts & Cs don’t help much either….

    I think they have given me a goal which they themselves won’t allow me to complete !!!!!!

    All good now. The link worked fine and I managed to register. My target is 78,300 points; along with the normal registration and Stay Once’ options, I am tasked with achieving 34,800 points for staying 27 nights, then 3 additional tranches of 4,000 points for an additional 4 nights each, followed by 20,000 points for another 4 nights. The Refer a Friend option for 5,000 points means that like Andy, I will have to get the missus to get an account!
