Regular readers will remember my article on IHG adding early check-in as an advertised benefit for top-tier status members. IHG sent out an email yesterday to its UK members saying they have added yet another benefit – free Kindle ebooks. Whilst this has been available to US members for sometime already, this promotion will be available in the UK until December 2019.

The number of free ebooks you can get depends on your status level. Here are the details:

Note that you do not have to have a Kindle to take advantage of this. You can access this benefit “on any device” via the “Your Extra Benefits” section in the IHG app. See here for further details.

Now the titles offered didn’t really get me excited, but perhaps there’s something in there that you will find worth reading. It is unclear whether everyone has access to the same titles or whether there’s a different selection available to each member. Bottom line

It is always nice to see new IHG Rewards Club benefits introduced. It is also interesting that this is made available to all members, including those without elite status. As with the new early check-in benefit for top-tier elites, time will tell how this will play out in practice. The list of available ebooks is fairly modest so far, so hopefully more titles will be added over time. I might then actually be tempted to download one of them to enjoy alongside drinks and canapés in one of their executive lounges (not that lounge access is a guaranteed benefit with IHG!)…
