It looks like it’s been running for a while, but I only recently came across an interesting Iberia Plus promotion that is intended to help celebrate its 25th birthday: ‘Blank Ticket’.

The basic premise is that you share a short story of your favourite trip and if the panel of judges like it, you can win free flights or Avios.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Iberia Plus programme, we have created a very special ticket that can take you to any destination in the world: the Blank Ticket. And we’re gradually going to fill it in, month by month, with the best trips of your life.

All you have to do is tell us about that incredible trip that changed your life and that you will never forget.

The best of each month shall win a trip taken by another Iberia Plus member.

Just for telling us about your trip, you could win one of the two monthly prizes of 25,000 Avios, which you can exchange for cinema tickets, hotel nights and much more.

On closer inspection of the terms, it seems like the main prize each month is actually the amount of Avios it would require to complete the previous month’s winning trip, up to a maximum of 300,000 Avios. There are also 2 runners-up each month, who both win 25,000 Avios.

Conclusion

Blank Ticket is a really nice idea for a promotion I think – encouraging people to share stories about trips that have meant a lot to them is lovely.

The execution leaves a little to be desired, particularly as it’s initially quite unclear what the Grand Prize each month actually is, but the chance to win a decent chunk of Avios is always appreciated and I give Iberia Plus top marks for the concept.
