The overnight Caledonian Sleeper train is offering a 20% discount to passengers hit by Ryanair’s decision to cancel flights between London and Scotland this winter.

The offer is valid until February 2018 and allows those with a valid Ryanair booking to take advantage of the discounted rate.

Guests are able to travel within a day of their original Ryanair booking and should use the code ‘RYANAIR‘ when booking.

Caledonian Sleeper Managing Director, Keith Wallace said:

“We want to give people affected by the Ryanair cancellations peace of mind. We offer an alternative way of travelling between Scotland and London, which will allow affected passengers to fulfil their previous travel arrangements, getting where they need to be as they originally planned.”

The offer is valid on both legs of Caledonian Sleeper’s Edinburgh-London (Timetable here) and Glasgow-London (Timetable here) routes. All classes of travel are eligible for the offer, including First Class.

Guests must bring a copy of their original flight booking with them, or face having to pay the full fare.

Conclusion

A cheeky little promo by Caledonian Sleeper, but quite a smart move I think. I’d love to try it at some point, even without a discount.

There’s a 360 degree online tour of the train you can take a look at here and although it might not be particularly luxurious, there’s always a certain romance to the idea of long distance rail travel!
