I posted yesterday about flights from London to the USA West Coast for ~£255, which is an excellent deal. If you want to fly to the East Coast though and visit Boston or New York instead, you can do even better! Norwegian is continuing to sell ultra cheap flights to the USA on its brand new Boeing 737 Max aircraft from various UK airports.

The best prices from the UK are from Edinburgh and Belfast to New York (Stewart Airport), Providence (near-ish Boston) and Hartford, Connecticut.

If you look carefully, you can find direct Return flights for as little as £202.24!

More typically, fares are a little higher – but not by much. ~£220 Return is quite easy to find for dates through to March 2018.

If you would be flying to connect in Edinburgh or Belfast anyway, you might also want to check out the fares from Dublin and Cork to the same destinations. It’s also worth pointing out that the fares to/from Bergen in Norway are absolutely ludicrous, starting at just £157.12 Return.

Mix an outbound from Bergen to New York (from £66.60) and an inbound back to Edinburgh (£63.12) and you could potentially book  Return flights between Europe and the USA for a ridiculous £129.72! Sadly, for most of us, the cost of positioning to Bergen would likely wipe out most of any saving.

What are these flights like?

It’s important to note that all of these flights are on Norwegian’s brand new narrow-body Boeing 737-max aircraft. These are basically longer-range versions of the planes most of us will have flown to short-haul destinations on, which means no seat-back entertainment, no Business Class section, etc. In other words, it’s even more ‘budget’ than Norwegian’s other long haul routes (where they use wide-body 787s, which have entertainment).

I’ve not flown with Norwegian long-haul myself yet on either type of plane, but my fellow InsideFlyer contributor Joe has tried both. I had a quick chat with him about the flights recently and he said that even the 737s were absolutely fine (for Economy!) – these are relatively short 6-7 hour flights after all. That said, his ‘top tip’ was to pay the extra £20 for an exit row seat, particularly on night-time flights back to Europe.

Conclusion

With Norwegian continuing to expand, it looks like cheap flights to the USA (and elsewhere) are here to stay for a little while at least.
