Tesco Clubcard members with a smartphone can earn 500 free Clubcard points between now and 31 October, 2017 by downloading and using the PayQwiq app. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this promotion, as we wrote about it back in January.

How does the App work?

• You download the PayQwiq app to your smartphone (Apple or Android)
• You link your Clubcard number and your favourite credit card to PayQwiq
• When in a Tesco store, you pay by scanning a barcode generated by the PayQwiq app. This automatically charges your linked credit card and credits your Clubcard account as if you handed over your plastic Clubcard at the till.

How do you Earn Bonus Points?

You need to shop at Tesco and pay with the App. Only one transaction each week will earn the 100 Clubcard points bonus – Tesco’s week runs from Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59. So, you can’t make five small purchases on a single day to max out…

The offer expires on 31 October, 2017, making it reasonably easy to reach the maximum of five, even if you have holidays planned or don’t do a Tesco shop every week.

There doesn’t appear to be a minimum spend requirement, so even if you prefer to avoid shopping at big box Tescos, you should still pop into a Tesco Express once a week to buy a snack or something.

What Else do I Need to Know?

You need to sign up for PayQwiq by 3 September, 2017 to participate. You must also keep the App installed for a minimum of 14 days – I’m not sure what is gained by this restriction, as most people will want to keep the App installed for a minimum of five weeks…

If you participated previously in similar promotions, you might be wondering whether you are eligible to receive a further 500 point bonus. I’m honestly not sure. Whilst the promotion T&Cs say “one offer per customer”, it’s not clear whether this is considered to be the same offer as previous iterations.
