I don’t normally pay much attention to route announcements from Norwegian Airlines. After all, I’m famous here at InsideFlyer UK for my allergic reaction to the idea of flying on low cost carriers…
But today’s announcement caught my eye, because I have family and professional connections to Argentina and I visit fairly frequently…
From 14 February 2018, Norwegian will start a year-round service of four weekly flights from London Gatwick to Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport, using brand new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
There appear to be a mix of flight times, with an overnight flight from London to Buenos Aires on select days, and a daytime flight for others. The return flight will always be overnight, although the departure time will differ based on the arrival time of the inbound aircraft…
Norwegian’s fares are usually excellent, and they are suggesting a price of £299 each way in Economy and £699 in their Premium cabin, which looks roughly to be the case for flights in April 2018…

Now it becomes clear why IAG pre-emptively started a Barcelona to Buenos Aires service using its new LEVEL subsidiary.
Buenos Aires now becomes Norwegian’s first South American destination, joining Singapore and a variety of North American destinations. Are you tempted to visit? Although the majority of Argentines don’t really care, it’s still wise not to mention a certain conflict that took place in the 80s…

It’s way too long a flight for me to lose blood flow to my legs over, but anything that keeps pricing pressure on the BA/IB virtual monopoly is a good thing in my books…

Their premium seats have good leg room. I recommend them. Their loyalty scheme is great, especially when buying flex tickets!

Indeed! I’ve got some more Norwegian flights coming up, so might get it done soon-ish if nobody beats me to it. Sadly, no Premium seats for me though…
