It certainly can be – I value Flying Blue Miles at about 1p each so 3,000 is worth about £30. It’s not too difficult to find hotels in cheap destinations on PointsHound for ~£30 per night, so you’re potentially looking at an effective 50% rebate.

You can top up your Flying Blue balance easily by transferring American Express Membership Rewards Points at a reasonable 1:1 rate.

Bottom line
