The popular £50 off £200 spend with American Express Travel on Amex Gold/Platinum Cards is back.
It popped up on my Amex Gold account yesterday, and if it’s like last time, all Amex Gold and Platinum card-holders should be eligible, but other Amex issued cards (BA, SPG etc) won’t receive the offer.
The terms are fairly straightforward:
- Spend £200+ with American Express Travel on prepaid hotels, flights, car hire or experiences.
- Registration required.
- Must pay by 28th February 2017.
- Valid once per card.
It’s also worth mentioning that I spotted another £200 off £1000 spend with Trailfinders on my account too, which I know some readers found useful last time.
Bottom Line
If you use it smartly this works out as a 25% discount for booking with Amex travel (assuming you spend exactly£200!). Personally, 25% isn’t really enough to get me to book hotels through Amex (there are other good ways to get that sort of discount), but it’s a great deal if you’ve got some eligible flights coming up!
Terms:
- Only one £50 statement credit per Card, for the first 24,000 Cardmembers to save.
- Available online at travel.americanexpress.co.uk.
- Offer only valid on prepaid hotels, flights, car hire or experiences booked through American Express Travel.
- Cruise bookings and hotels booked through the FINE HOTEL & RESORTS and The Hotel Collection programme are not eligible for this offer.
- Offer only applies to spend made in Great British Pound (GBP) on the Card to which the offer is saved, including an American Express Card loaded into a mobile payment wallet.
- Offer does not apply to spend on other Cards you might hold and is not valid for transactions made using Payment Aggregators including, but not limited to, PayPal.
- An awarded credit may be reversed if qualifying transaction is refunded or cancelled.

Does this have to be £200+ spend in single transaction? Isn’t clear reading through T&C’s
Thanks

Hi Barney,
It has to be £200+ in a single transaction unfortunately – I just confirmed this with Amex.
