As we have previously flagged, every Wednesday Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG), releases the latest round of “SPG Hot Escapes” on their dedicated website.

These deals can be booked until the coming Saturday for hotel stays in the subsequent 6 weeks, with discounts that can go up to 50% depending on the destination and hotel.

If you’re not a member yet of the SPG loyalty programme, then I recommend you sign up (for free), as you will get an extra discount of 5% on all the prices featured on the SPG Hot Escapes website.

The SPG Hot Escapes list is released every Wednesday

Compared to the offerings last week, there’s a slight increase in the number of hotels in the latest round.

In fact, there were 79 hotels on Wednesday’s list:

  • Asia: 20 hotels (1 hotel in China which isn’t on the map)
  • Europe: 13 hotels
  • Mexico: 1 hotel
  • Middle East: 1 hotel
  • North America: 38 hotels
  • Oceania: 1 hotel
  • South America: 5 hotels

There is only 1 hotel from the UK on this weeks list. It’s the Aloft London Excel, which can be booked at a rate of 60 GBP per night.

Unfortunately there are no so called “featured deals” available for the UK this week, and for mainland Europe you’ll find just a handful of decent deals.

Note that you will earn Starpoints when booking one of the SPG Hot Escapes deals  – like you would with an ordinary booking through the SPG website. That said, dished out on a strict revenue basis, Starwood doesn’t reward you with many points for hotel stays, especially if you compare the number of points you receive with, for example, IHG.

However, the Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty programme does have an interesting conversion rate for transferring points from your SPG account to your favourite airline frequent flyer account. It’s possible to convert Starpoints at a 1:1 rate to air miles. You’ll also earn a 5,000 point bonus when you transfer 20,000 points.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to visit the InsideFlyer UK forum and ask – we’ll be glad to help you out.
