To celebrate the one year anniversary of the route, boutique Business Class airline La Compagnie is currently offering Business Class return flights from London (Luton) to New York (Newark) at £844 all-in, or (better still) £1500 for two.
The only major restriction is that you need to book by 29 February 2016. That aside, availability of the fares is excellent, including during the peak summer months.
Here is an example booking in March 2016:
And here’s the £1500 for two in March:
Prices rise by £4 return(!) moving into April, but while the promo fare is not available on all flights, availability remains good throughout the year.
Here is August at £848 return, for example:
And here’s the £1500 for two in August:
You can book the fare on the La Compagnie website or call +44 (0) 203 481 1575.
Note that theses really are “all-in” prices, inclusive of all taxes and carrier-imposed fees (and 32kg checked baggage), so this is not some misleading “base fare” promo.
The other point to note, of course, it to get a sub-£1000 long haul Business Class ticket with anyone else (Qatar being the obvious example), you are almost certainly going to be required to start your trip outside of the UK (e.g. Scandinavia), which involves the expense and hassle of getting to your “starting point”. As such, this is a “cleaner” deal insofar as your price is substantially below £1000, and your starting point is the UK. Luton is not a difficult airport to get to from central London.
Can I earn frequent flyer miles with La Compagnie?
Actually you can, with the MyCompagnie programme. You’ll earn between 1 and 5 points per flight, with 20 points getting you a reward flight. As you can see from the link, you won’t earn many with the promo fare, but at these prices I don’t think you can complain.
Is La Compagnie any good?
Yes. You can read the “brochure” here, but for a more objective opinion, InsideFlyer UK editor MilesFromBlighty flew with them last year, and was impressed by the experience.
The bottom line is a sub £850 Business Class return to New York in August really is a very good value offer.
