While the more seasoned points-collector should be very familiar with American Express’s cardmember offers, it’s worth flagging in the run up to Christmas – not least because there are some really good value options currently available.
Cardmember offers are periodic rebates from American Express with certain retailers. After you shop there, you will get part of your spend at featured shops refunded to your Amex credit card.
You can view the available offers via your Amex online account. Simply click on the “offers tailored to you” tab:
You will then be presented with a tab that says “offers available for card XXXXX”:
Or visit www.cardmemberoffers.co.uk (but be sure to also check your online account: many of the offers here are not replicated on the website).
Current offers available on my account (and the account of many others, I have checked) include:
- Spend £10, get £5 back at retailers participating in “Shop Small”.
- Spend £10, get £5 back at the Post Office (and bear in mind that the Post Office sells ‘One4All’ giftcards which you can then convert to a variety of retailers including Amazon, Argos, Boots, Currys, Debenhams, John Lewis, House of Fraser etc: you can simply buy a £10 gift voucher for £5)
- Spend £10, get £5 back at Superdrug (again, there is a variety of giftcards available at Superdrug)
Plus, per the article heading, these are just the “half price” offers. There are a number of other retailers with discounts of some sort available, including:
- Argos
- Costco
- Eurostar
- Harrods
- World Duty Free
One of the great things about these offers is you can load them to each of your Amex cards. Even where you don’t have an online account for a particular card, you can still load the offer to a card if you can find it on cardmemberoffers.co.uk, as is the case for the Superdrug offer.
And, if all that shopping makes you hungry, there’s a £10 off £30 spend at Pizza Hut available…
With it’s first year at zero cost, and 20,000 points bonus (easily enough for a European return flight with BA) our credit card of choice remains the American Express Gold charge card.
