We have long sung the praises of some of the ex-Europe Business Class return flights with Qatar Airways. Start your trip with Qatar outside London and you can save a small fortune.
Never has this been more true than with the current batch of sale fares, starting at just £1089 for long-haul Business Class returns, and offering Australia (Adelaide) at a quite spectacular £1364 all-in return.
Flights out of Germany and the Netherlands are offering some decent value, with – for example – Bangkok at €1795 and Singapore at €1915 (note Euros). However the clear value on the current ex-EU sale is out of Oslo, with the following (sometimes jaw-dropping) prices in Business Class:
- Dubai at 14095 NOK (£1089) return
- Bangkok at 15545 NOK (£1200) return
- Adelaide at 17684 NOK (£1370) return (from London it’s £3670!)
- Capetown at 17795 NOK (£1375) return
I am sure you don’t really need telling, but a Business Class return from Northern Europe to Australia at £1370 is truly superb value. And yes, it’s really bookable:
Travel windows for these Qatar Business Class sale fares are generally pretty good, with the ex-Germany/Netherlands flights available for much of 2016 and the ex-Oslo flights generally available up until June 2016. The Adelaide mega-Bargain is bookable for May and early June 2016.
But I don’t live in Norway!
Always a fair comment, but at these prices, you will still be saving a fortune by taking a positioning flight to Oslo and flying on from there. Ryanair, easyJet etc can be used to very good effect here.
Indeed, Ryanair is regularly offering £5 fares to Oslo, so if you can bear slumming it at the start, you can fly in absolute luxury for a fraction of the ex-UK price.
