I see there's been a bit of a blunder with the Groupon offer this morning, with no restrictions on the number of 2000 avios packages. You can select the 2000 option, but you'll get the message 'Sorry, we can not make the purchase. The maximum coupons allowed for this offer have already been reached.' I hope they restore it, or it's the first time I've missed this deal.
I'm still refreshing... come on Groupon. If they're talking to Iberia about the issue, we could be here forever... I may as well go and do something else. Surprised no one at HFP has picked up on this offer yet.
Haha, yes I've come to the conclusion that Iberia customer service basically exists to try and make BA look good!
Yup, Groupon's fault, but they will presumably have to go back to Iberia and explain they've mucked it up, in order for Iberia to authorise (or give/sell them?) more Avios sales. And that's when the delays will intensify, because Iberia takes an age to do anything.
Still waiting for Groupon to give Topcashback that £10 they owe me for buying that online Christmas card...
I've chased, nudged, whatever... It's really not so hard to set rules for your promos to not offer £10 to somebody for a £2 purchase. But once you've screwed up, just pay it and avoid losing a customer forever... (until there's another cheap Avios deal! )
Go go go! 2000 packs are back up! I don't know how many more 2000 packs Groupon.es have been authorised to sell after the blunder last week, so I REALLY wouldn't delay your purchase. As Chan says, don't forget to go through Iberia Store who are offering 10 avios per Euro spent. My quick guide to redeeming the coupon after your purchase: Once you’ve made your purchase, it will show up in your Groupon purchase list after a few minutes (you should get an email to confirm that the Avios are ready). Click the green button and you will be taken to a new page to get the Avios. On the left side there should be a green button underneath a picture of an Iberia plane. Click the button and a pdf file will open in a new tab. At the top left there should be a security code and a coupon code. You will need these codes so make a note of them (ignore the ‘ref’ code). Towards the bottom of the previous page, there’s a set of instructions. In the first paragraph there should be a small link. Click it, and you’ll be taken to a new page with some fields to fill in. Add the security code, the coupon code, your email address, click the tick box, and hit the ‘validate coupon’ button. It may not work first time, and will just reload the page - this always happens for me. It will eventually work, just be patient. On the second attempt, it worked and took me to a new page asking for my Iberia Plus number. Enter it, hit the button, and you should get a confirmation message on the next page - your avios will be uploaded in 15 days. It's been a good few days for website errors and cheap avios hasn't it?
Really? No more than 2 minutes ago I double-checked and 2,000 was still showing for me as sold out...
You're right - gone again. I checked at 9am, nothing. I checked at 11:30, they were there. And now they're gone again. Maybe they will reappear?
Some context... 2190 Avios for 19 euros / £16.75. Standard decent price for 2190 Avios = £22 or so? At some point I'm just going to stop caring about this specific fiver and just pound out another blog post for InsideFlyer...
As someone who isn't actually looking to buy Avios at the moment, I'm enjoying everything about this offer and the updates! Hilarious work by Groupon and Iberia - great stuff!
