Very easy! Once it gets added to your BAEC account, it's a radio button to select to use it on a reward booking.

You still need 2 x seats available for redemption, but the voucher is considered when pricing up the Avios required.

We've talked about cancelling cards before, and on my last cycle Amex were very persistent that I keep the card (downgraded to free card OK), otherwise the voucher is cancelled. Part of me thinks that still isn't true, but I wasn't prepared to risk it.
Be interesting to hear from anyone who did cancel their BA Amex and keep the companion voucher.

Thanks a lot Ian for the explanation and the screenshot to show how it works.

Hi Nico - just to (possibly over-)clarify, the CV can only be used when making an Avios redemption, not a normal booking. Apologies for over explaining if you already know, but the comment about paying the "rest with your credit card" had me worried! :) (Although, of course, there are always a load of taxes/fees to pay on most Avios redemptions, so you will have to use a card to pay those).

I was told the same thing and heard of the same stories so ended up keeping the Premium Card and actually have just continued to rack points up and use the various CVs. I guess if more people are like me doing that then it pays to keep us.
