I'm seriously considering upgrading from Amex Gold to Platinum because the added perks will come in handy this year as I plan to travel a lot more.

I called Amex customer services today to see if they would offer any personalised upgrade bonuses (No!). Worse still, the agent claimed there was no upgrade path and I would need to complete a brand new application for the Platinum card. I'm sure it used to be possible to upgrade between cards though...

Important question, as I am coming up to the 2 year anniversary of when I cancelled my Amex Gold card, so will be eligible for sign up bonuses again. I've seen a lot of posts on here and HFP about the benefits of the Platinum card, weighed against the annual fee. I am tempted. Even if it's just for the welcome points and then cancel for a pro rata refund.

I also currently have the BA Premium Plus avios card, as I've been working on collecting 241 vouchers, unused as yet due to Covid.

Can anyone help?
Been playing around with points.com today, ive put in certain partners like virgin elevate, ihg etc but when i go to see what partners are available they all appear to be us based like aeroplan.
Im sure reading hfp article earlier this year you can exchange ihg to aa, virgin elevate to ihg but it does not display those partners in my account?
