Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has released a significant update to its website and mobile app, providing travellers with real-time arrival information including post-landing time estimates.
New Real-Time Travel Overview System
The updated system offers passengers immediate insight into their journey through the terminal after landing. For those travelling with hand luggage only, the app displays expected walking times to the exit.
For passengers with hold luggage, the system calculates total exit times based on the longer of two waiting times:
- Baggage reclaim wait time
- Passport control processing time

This new functionality is particularly useful for:
- Arriving passengers planning onward travel
- Friends and family waiting to collect travellers
- Business travellers coordinating airport pickups
Advanced Baggage Tracking
Since 2024, the airport has implemented a sophisticated baggage tracking system using a self-learning data model that incorporates thirteen different data sources. The system now combines:
- Real-time walking distances
- Expected baggage reclaim times
- Passport control waiting times
This provides passengers with a comprehensive overview of their expected time at the airport from touchdown to exit.
Bottom Line
For UK travellers frequently using Amsterdam as a hub or destination, this new feature offers valuable info to help plan smooth and efficient travel.
