Why You Need to Stay at THIS Central London Hilton Hotel

I have ranted in the past about the standard of London Hilton properties. From the creaky Hilton Green Park through to the soulless Hilton London Metropole, they are often expensive and distinctly mediocre.

This negativity unfortunately applies to so many beyond just the above too: The Hilton Euston, the Hilton Paddington, the Waldorf Hilton, the Hilton Park Lane. All brilliantly positioned, but ultimately disappointing places to stay.

Yes the Conrad St James is pretty good, but it’s also very expensive.

Step forward the DoubleTree by Hilton, Victoria. Hilton’s London saviour.

The DoubleTree Victoria is pretty much everything I look for in a London hotel:

  • Brilliantly located, right next to the very central Victoria station, with its various attractions and transport links
  • Bright, clean and modern
  • Friendly, attentive staff
  • An excellent breakfast
  • Lovely views out over London

What really sets it apart as the place to stay, for me, is bullet point 2 above. The offending Hiltons listed earlier often have tired and lazy decor, desperately in need of updating. By contrast, the DoubleTree Victoria oozes class and modernity – genuinely new, comfortable, classily-furnished, clean rooms.

With prices averaging around £150 a night, it’s also relatively very reasonable and infinitely preferable to the more expensive “Hilton Flagship” options (the Metropole may be a little cheaper, but avoid).

Double tree by Hilton Victoria has its fair share of tired boxy rooms. You got an upgrade and therefore a better room. The restaurant is pretty poor for evening meals too. I actually find the food at the Metropole better.
