Why You Might Want to Let Travel Companies Know Your Birthday

Last month I turned 39, and not for the first time… ahem! 😉 I don’t expect readers to care too much, but as I was digging through the emails sent to me by a variety of travel companies, I noticed a couple of gems that I decided to share with readers. Why? Because we love free stuff! And if a travel company is willing to give me free stuff for my birthday, I’m happy to provide them with that particular detail. (sometimes required, sometimes optional…)

And so… perhaps you should be willing to do the same.

Marriott Rewards, soon to be Bonvoy

One free elite night credit. Platinum status requires 50 nights in a year. Titanium status requires 75 nights. I’m not sure if everybody might receive this gift, or just those who already enjoy elite status.

One night might not make much of a difference, or it might save me £50-75 for a year-end mattress run. I’ll certainly take it…

Lufthansa Miles & More

This offer is not quite free, but if I should need an independent hotel in the near future, I’ll gladly take the extra 1,000 Lufthansa miles for a hotel booking, especially since they are rather difficult to acquire.
