UPDATE: According to ‘Foggy’ in the comments and the always excellent ‘Raffles’ over at HFP (who also kindly took the time to comment here), it seems that the transfer rate is actually still 1:1 in practice, despite Accor’s own terms showing the rate as 2:1.

There was a time when Accor Le Club (the loyalty programme for hotel brands like Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure and Ibis) used to get quite a lot of coverage here on InsideFlyer. The steady erosion of almost everything that made the programme worth paying attention to – Happy Mondays, generous bonus points promotions, easy elite status, etc – means there are far fewer reasons to write about Le Club these days.

One throwback to the good old days, which had survived until now though, was the ability to transfer Accor Le Club Points to Iberia Plus Avios at a 1:1 rate, even though the transfer rate to British Airways Executive Club only got you half as many Avios. That has now changed and the transfer ratio to Iberia is the same as it is to BA.

Confusingly, the image Accor is using for Iberia transfers still shows the old 1:1 rate, but the terms are quite clear, with Iberia Plus no longer being listed as an exception to the standard 2:1 transfer rate.

Conclusion

The Iberia Plus transfer rate was always an anomaly, and in some ways I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did. That said, with the exception of generous cashback rates (sometimes 15%), it’s difficult to think of many reasons to pick Accor Le Club over other hotel programmes these days.
