Shangri-La Hotels’ Golden Circle loyalty programme is offering the chance to grab 350 points (worth ~£27/$35) just for completing a couple of super quick tasks.

250 Golden Circle Points in 30 seconds

First, you can get 250 points simply for downloading the app and then using it to sign into your account (or setting up an account and signing in from the app, if you don’t already have one).

While you’re logged in, head to your account payment details on your profile and save a Mastercard there.

 

According to the terms, both sets of points should take 2-4 weeks to be added to your account.

Are the points really worth £27?

More or less!

You can redeem 500 Golden Circle Points for a $50USD food/beverage voucher which can be used at the bars and restaurants in Shangri-La hotels (no need to be staying as a guest at the time!). If 500 points are worth $50, 350 are worth $35, which is roughly £27 at today’s exchange rate.

The problem, of course, is that 350 points leaves us 150 short of a number we can actually usefully redeem… Or does it?

A few years ago, Golden Circle introduced ‘instant dining awards‘, where you could (theoretically) instantly use points for partial or full payment at hundreds of Shangri-La bars and restaurants, without a minimum redemption required. I’ve never tried it myself and info is difficult to come across, but the terms and conditions can be found here and look fairly simple.

It looks like you get the same 10 cents per point value as you would when redeeming for paper vouchers, meaning the 350 points really should save you about £27. Blackout dates apply at some properties – full list here.

250 points offer:

1. This offer is valid when Golden Circle (“GC”) members download the new Shangri-La Mobile App (the “App”) and sign in to their GC accounts on the App from 19 November 2018 to 28 February 2019, both dates inclusive.
2. 250 GC Award Points will be awarded to new members who join GC on the App and existing members who sign in to their GC accounts on the App within the offer period.
3. 250 GC Award Points will be awarded only once for the first GC account login on a single device. GC member will receive 250 GC Award Points two to four weeks after signing in with the App. Multiple logins to the App using different GC accounts on the same device or the same GC account login to the App on multiple devices will not be eligible for the offer.
4. Multiple enrolments by a single person or duplicate enrolments by existing GC members will not be entitled to the 250 GC Award Points.
5. This offer is not to be combined with other bonus point promotions and is subject to change at GC’s sole discretion.
6. This offer is not applicable to Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts employees.
7. Any abuse of this offer, any failure to follow these terms and conditions, any fraudulent or attempted fraudulent activity, or any misrepresentation of any information furnished to GC for this offer may result in GC exercising its right to cancel the offer and withdraw any benefits offered without notice.

100 points offer:

1. To earn “100 GC Award Points”, a Participant must sign in to his or her Golden Circle account and successfully add a valid Mastercard card in the Participant’s name on the Shangri-La Mobile App (the “App”) between 24 August 2018 and 28 February 2019 (“Offer Period”).
2. 100 GC Award Points will be credited to a successful Participant’s Golden Circle account within 2 to 4 weeks after adding a valid Mastercard card on the App.
3. Each Golden Circle member is only entitled to a one-time credit of 100 GC Award Points and each Mastercard card can only be used once for the 100 GC Award Points offer. No additional GC Award Points will be awarded for: (i) the addition of multiple Mastercard cards by a Golden Circle member to his/her account; or (ii) the addition of a Mastercard card by multiple Golden Circle members to their accounts.
