British Airways recently announced a new Avios partner: Indian domestic airline Vistara. As part of the new agreement, passengers can book seats on Vistara flights to destinations across India from Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi and check their bags straight through to the final destination.

The agreement means that British Airways customers will now be able to visit 13 new destinations across the region, opening up cities such as Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Goa, Kolkata, Kochi, and Pune.

Rishi Kapoor, British Airways’ Head of Alliances, said:

“We have been flying to India for more than 90 years, so it is incredibly exciting for us to be able announce this partnership with such a well-respected carrier. We have been wanting to expand our network in the region for some time and to have Vistara on board is great news for our customers and for companies based in these important cities. Whether it’s soaking up the beaches in Goa, India’s sunshine state, exploring Kochi, Kerala’s colourful city, or taking in the temples and culture of Amritsar, this partnership opens up a whole new range of destinations for holidaymakers too.”

Seats are now available to buy on ba.com, for travel from September 27, 2018.

Earn Avios & TPs

According to the press release, British Airways Executive Club members will be able earn Avios and Tier Points on Vistara flights, so long as you make sure you book ‘BA’ coded flights.

I haven’t seen any news yet about whether there are plans to allow members to redeem Avios on Vistara at some point in the future, but it’s not possible to do so at the moment.

Bottom line

It’s always good to see BA announce a new Avios partner – even if it is just on the earning side for now.

Vistara looks like a pretty comfortable way to fly domestically in India and I’m sure many people will benefit from the easier connections.

    Hi Joe
An issue I have noted is that you can only book connecting. flights to other cities when flying BA . One cannot book yet on Vistara an independent Ba coded flight from DEL to MUMBAI.
Also BA has not anounced yet if these can be booked as reward flights!

Lost all my Avios 200 k plus air miles so will never ( if possible ) fly on any airline that offers them even if a lower cost.
