No Tesco Conversion Bonus, But You Might Still be Able to Earn 1,000 Free Virgin Atlantic Miles

Tesco Clubcard members should have received their latest statements, covering the quarter up until early May. Unlike previous quarters, however, there is no conversion bonus on offer from Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. Instead, we get a prize draw…

 

But never mind… it appears that the 1,000 mile Opt-in bonus is back again. Of course, you don’t ever want to automatically convert your Clubcard points into Virgin Atlantic miles, especially since conversion bonuses aren’t guaranteed to happen.

What you want to do is:

  1. Step One, sign up for Auto Opt-In
  2. Step Two, wait for 1,000 miles to post to your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account
  3. Step Three, turn OFF Auto Opt-In (make sure to do this well ahead of the next statement, which should be late July / early August 2018)

Setting up Auto Opt-In is simple. Simply log-in to your Tesco Clubcard account, visit the “Voucher Schemes” section of “Account Management”, choose “Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles” and enter your Flying Club membership number. Don’t worry, any existing Clubcard vouchers will remain as vouchers and won’t be automatically converted.

If it still works, you’ll receive 1,000 free miles at zero cost to you. Pay attention to InsideFlyer UK and I’ll even remind you when to turn off the Auto Opt-in – so that you receive vouchers instead of miles, and can earn 1,000 miles again and again…

Eventually Tesco and Virgin Atlantic will stop this, won’t they? But until they do, I’m going to keep opting in to miles and then changing my mind a few weeks later. 😉

    Looks to be slightly early for me as it wishes to convert my points earned up to 3 May into Virgin miles, and that it will do it by 14 May (not that its a whole lot, but prefer them to stay as Clubcard vouchers). I guess maybe try after 14 May ??

      I received a rather odd email along those lines as well. (on or before 3 May) I thought I had waited long enough before writing this post for all points to be converted into vouchers.

      But I don’t have any vouchers or points at the moment to know definitively whether another Opt-In would result in my points being converted automatically. Keep us updated…

    Yep, vouchers not in until tomorrow. Only auto convert points have hot accounts today from what I’ve read.

      It’s very quick. Overnight. However unless you have an imminent need for Virgin miles, I would hang on to your vouchers until the next cycle, when we might see a conversion bonus again.
