£75 Off London Hotels with American Express

Until 5th August 2018, you can get £75 off London hotels with American Express, thanks to the latest incarnation of the regular statement credit offers.

You’ve got a couple of decent options to choose from – either the Royal Lancaster London, or The Landmark London.

In both cases, you need to login to your American Express account, check to see whether you have the offer on your card and then click to save it. The £75 statement credits require a transaction of £200+ and you can pay online (using the specific links above) or at the hotels. You must book & pay by 05/08/2018.

Each offer is only valid once per card – but you could, of course, visit both hotels.

How to register for American Express offers

If you have an American Express card issued directly by American Express (Amex Gold/Platinum, SPG, BA/BAPP etc), simply login to your American Express online account, scroll down to the “offers” tab and then click on “save to card” when you see the relevant offer.

Are the hotels any good?

I haven’t stayed at either of them, but if you can get a reasonable rate, they look like potentially good value with the £75 rebate.

The Royal Lancaster London overlooks Hyde Park and is just 5-10 minutes walk from Paddington Station.

The Landmark, situated just across the road from Marylebone Station, is a well-regarded boutique 5* hotel. I imagine rates are more likely to be £300+ than £200, but at least the £75 credit would take some of the sting off.

Conclusion

It’s good to see some more of these travel-related Amex offers. They had dried up a bit recently (on my accounts anyway!) and can often provide excellent value.

Do you happen to know if this would work in the restaurants in the hotel? Only I have a table booked at the Landmark next month which will easily top £200 so just wondering if it was rooms only? As far as I’m aware it is a hotel restaurant and not an external chain.

I’ve had a quick look at the terms and unfortunately can’t say for sure – it really depends on how they process payments. If it’s all done centrally through the main hotel payment system then it should work, but if the restaurant uses a different system (which it may, even if completely owned and run by the hotel), then you’ll very likely be out of luck. My advice: no harm at all in trying, but I certainly wouldn’t bank on it!
