Iberia Plus Reward Sale – 25% Off Rewards to Asia and the Americas

Iberia Plus e-mailed me this morning with details of its new Avios Calculator. Despite looking suspiciously similar to Avios.com – raising fears of a new combined platform and the “dynamic pricing” previously flagged by IAG as on-the-way – there was a more interesting element to the e-mail…

Iberia Plus is offering a 25% discount on all reward flights to Asia and the Americas.

Reward flights must be booked between now and 18 March, 2018. The actual flights must be taken between 1 October – 15 December, 2018.

Thanks to the 25% discount, you can fly Iberia’s Business Class between Madrid and Chicago, New York or Boston on a off-peak date for 25,500 Avios + £100 or so (each way)…

What Destinations are Covered?

Apart from our North American favorites – Chicago, New York and Boston due to their lower Avios cost – you have many potential destinations to choose from. Iberia also flies to Miami and Los Angeles, as well as several cities in Central and South America.

In Asia, you can choose from Tokyo (Narita) or Shanghai.

As always, it’s worth keeping my advice on “positioning flights” in mind, especially if you are thinking of making your own way to Madrid.

Unlike many promotions, this one covers a more distant travel period. So it’s definitely time to plan an autumn getaway. Do you have anywhere in mind?

Is it targeted? I don’t seem to get the 25% discount when searching within the suggested parameters (via Iberia.com).

Where is your IB+ account based? I know last time I had to change my account to Spain because the discount didn’t apply to British residents.

Also just keep an eye on peak / off-peak dates since that has thrown me off before as well.

Thanks Craig. It’s a UK based account. You were right, the off-peak/on-peak dates were catching me out. However, since finding a few at 25% off they all seem to have disappeared. Might need to switch to Spain as you say.
