“Banish those boring plans for something much more exciting, with 50% off 500,000 of our cheapest Standard and First Advance tickets.

Just pick a place — anywhere across our east coast route — and travel from
5 March to 29 June 2018 (some date exclusions apply*).

With an offer this good, there’s never been a better time to plan an adventure… or two… or three… ok, four might be pushing it.”

The terms in my version require booking by 23:59 on 26th February and travel to be on the following dates: 5 March to 29 June inclusive, excluding 29 March-3 April, 4-7 May, 25 May-3 June and all Saturdays and Sundays from 12 May to 24 June 2018 inclusive.

If you have been targeted, it says you need to click through using the specific link in your email, sign into your account and then search – but feel free to try using my link and signing in (it might work?).

50% off is an excellent saving and because you can book multiple times and it applies to all the Virgin East Coast routes, this is a fantastic promo – for those who have been targeted.

With the discount, one way fares between Leeds and London are as little as £8!

Conclusion

With at least 500,000 Advance tickets being made available, I would hope that this Virgin East Coast sale is quite widely targeted. Anybody else got an email yet or had success signing into your account via my link?

No e-mail as yet, but I do travel with them a lot, so am hoping to see the comms come through! I was targeted last July (I think) and got a load of cheap FC travel for work and leisure. Just slightly annoyed as only today booked London to Leeds FC Advance for the end of May and although it was cheap anyway, I might have been able to get it on this promotion! Never mind…

If you’re not targeted for this one, it’s worth downloading the Virgin Red app and linking your Virgin East Coast /Virgin Trains accounts to it as you get 30% off. I think you can only use those once though, so best saving it for when fares are expensive.

      • Rob Rixon says

Indeed – I have the Virgin Red App and am verified for VTEC and like you say, just waiting for the expensive trip to come up before using the code! And along the same lines, I don’t travel on Virgin Trains West Coast much, but wanted to get verified for the app in order to get the monthly points; booking a really short, one-stop away ‘trip’ worked a treat. Even though I haven’t been to Coventry or Birmingham airport for years… 🙂

Not wanting to give too many secrets away, but my “friend’s” account that does not get much use was targeted, while my own one which does was not targeted.

May be pure coincidence, but possible that its targeted at non-frequent travellers.
