New BA American Express Offer – £15 Statement Credit or 1,500 Avios for £100 Spend

There was a new BA American Express offer available to save on my card today:

“Save to Card to get a £15 statement credit on a transaction of £100+  online at British Airways UK by 30 January 2018. Valid once per Card for the first 20,000 Cardmembers to save. Terms and payment restrictions apply.”

Another variation of the promo has also been reported, offering 1,500 bonus Avios for a £100 spend.

I would value £15 and 1,500 Avios as being worth roughly the same, though would personally rather have the cash. Either, way, it’s a very nice little offer if you’ve got a British Airways booking you need to make in the next month.

Anything else?

You can only benefit from the offer once per card.

Award bookings should be eligible and I believe that booking a BA Holiday should also trigger the statement credit / bonus Avios. Remember that you can currently get 4.5% cashback and other benefits by booking a BA Holiday (just add 1 day’s car hire or a night at a hotel to your flights to turn your booking into a ‘BA Holiday’).

Conclusion

It’s good to see Amex continuing to offer these credits and bonuses in the New Year – they can really add up!

Hello, I am really confused about the offers (old age I fear!)….I saved the offer to my card, I think, but I am not sure if I did it all the right way round. I went to America from 17th-22nd January. How can I tell if I got the offer? I used my Avios BA card to pay. Should I ring American Express to discover? Sorry to be so feeble. I am going again in September and will try to look out for any offers though I suppose there won’t be any at such a popular time for travelling….. Carol Hadman

      Hi Carol,

We’ll certainly do our best to help!

Did you book the flights before saving the offer to your card maybe? It’s when you book that matters for these promos rather than when you actually travel.

Aside from that, I’m struggling to think what it might be really and would definitely recommend giving Amex a quick ring – they’re usually quite nice and helpful.

Let us know how it goes! 🙂

You did not probably save it to your card – as you would have received a notification when you used your Amex card to pay for flights!
I would normally double check the saving of such offers by doing it twice, a tip for next time.
