Marriott Rewards has announced details of their latest Megabonus promotion, bringing back the opportunity to earn a free night after two stays.

The promotion will run from 12 September, 2017 until 15 January, 2018.

The terms are relatively simple. After two paid stays at any Marriott Rewards hotel, you can earn a free night certificate valid at any hotel in award categories 1-5. This free night certificate will be valid for six months after it is earned.

In an additional twist, Marriott Rewards members will be presented with an additional offer/promotion 2-3 days after completing their second stay (and earning the Megabonus free night certificate). You will have a very short window of two weeks to register for that follow-on promotion – hopefully that means a lucrative one is planned!

Pre-registration is required for Megabonus. You can do that by clicking here. Members must register before 30 November. So spend a minute to register now, in case you forget later…

This promotion is great for those who aren’t obsessed with loyalty programmes (i.e. not most of us at InsideFlyer UK). A free night in exchange for two paid stays is simple and straightforward. It also doesn’t require anybody to be a frequent traveler, as many people require a couple of hotel stays over a four-month period…

Unfortunately, however, Marriott Rewards has nine award categories, and so it can be difficult to find an appealing hotel that falls into Categories 1-5. But it is easy enough to search the Marriott Rewards website to find hotels that might suit.

Interestingly, both Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest are running promotions on the same timeline. But they couldn’t be any more different (free night versus points). It must be a loyalty marketer’s dream to be able to test two different strategies at the same time…
