Last year, we wrote about how Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) were effectively offering free elite status to anyone and I’m pleased to report that the offer back!
SLH has changed its loyalty programme a little bit since then – it’s now called ‘INVITED’ and the new benefits are as follows:
‘Invited’ (just for signing up):
- Member Exclusive Rates
- Early Check-In (Noon, based upon availability at booking and check in)
- Late Check Out (3pm, based on availability at check in)
- Free Wi-Fi
- Daily complimentary breakfast for two
- Member Exclusive Promotions
Inspired (after 1+ stays) :
- Birthday Gift
- Room Upgrade (one category at check in if available)
Indulged (after 6+ stays):
- Invite only events
- Reward Night Voucher
The first thing to say is that the benefits just for signing up are fantastic – late checkout is probably the ‘elite’ benefit I actually value most, and who doesn’t like free breakfast?
The second thing is that American Express and Mastercard holders can sign-up and through the respective links and be granted elite ‘Inspired’ status, which also includes a Birthday gift and room upgrades.
Existing members can have their status boosted too – just sign into your account and then click on the Mastercard or Amex link above. I just registered my account and haven’t been upgraded yet, so it doesn’t appear to be instant.
Bottom line
SLH work with over 500 hotels all over the world, and many of them are genuinely beautiful (though some are also genuinely pricey…), so it’s well worth signing up.

Signing up to the Invited program seemed to work fine, but nothing has happened when I go back to the Amex page and select to upgrade to Inspired. Maybe it takes a while? No indications, so difficult to tell.
Yeah same, I just checked and mine still hasn’t been updated (registered yesterday).

Maybe you don’t get upgraded until you make a booking?
It’s my birthday in a couple of weeks so it will be interesting to see what the gift is. My guess would be a 10% off code.
Yep – I joined a few weeks ago and I’m still INVITED even though I have clicked through the Amex link as well. 🙁
