Until 3 August, you can get an 80% Hilton Points bonus when purchasing a minimum of 5,000 Hilton Honors points.

Hilton HHonors Points usually cost 0.76p each  (1 US cent), so with the 80% bonus it works out at 0.43p each.

The maximum number of Points you can purchase is 144,000 (80,000 + 64,000 Bonus) for £612 ($800).

Hilton do tend to run 100% bonuses fairly regularly, so this offer isn’t exceptional – but it could still save you quite a bit of money on Hilton stays.

Best Uses

Hilton redemptions start at just 5,000 points a night. While Hilton have now removed the Category system for their hotels (and the points required for redemptions), the former Category 1 and 2 hotels are, as a general rule, still available at 5,000 and 10,000 points a night.

We’ve written before about what a brilliant bargain Hilton’s (former) Category 1 and Category 2 hotels can be at only 5,000 or 10,000 Points per night. Put simply, if you bought Points with the current 80% bonus, that means you can get stays for £21.50 or £43.00 respectively.

Or better…

If you have any status with Hilton (even just Silver) you can get 5 nights for the price of 4 when redeeming Points, so 5 nights at a Category 1 hotel would cost £86.00, or £17.20 per night (20,000 Points). 5 nights at a Category 2 hotel would cost just £172, or £34.40 per night.

The 5K Points standouts

Hilton still offer some surprising 5k or 10k point gems – just because they are in a low award category doesn’t mean they are bad hotels!

As regards 5k a night hotels, for me the pick of the crop in Europe is the Hampton by Hilton in Krakow which regularly charges over £50.00 per night and gets 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor.

More exotically, I’ve been fascinated for a while by the stunning looking Hilton Salalah Resort in Oman. Paid rates are often higher than £100 per night (they’re £120 in the example below), so by buying Points you can save more than 80% on stays there!

 

It is also worth remembering that Points booking are flexible too, and the cash rates quoted above are for the lowest non-refundable rates!

I don’t normally tend to buy loyalty points or miles, but with the Hilton bonuses it can definitely make sense in some circumstances – do check the cash rates for your dates first though!
