Every quarter, IHG hotels run their legendary PointBreaks promotion, offering a selection of hotels at a fantastic 5K IHG Rewards points a night.

The latest round of PointBreaks hotels is due for release tomorrow (Friday 27 January), with booking available from Monday 30 January (some time in the afternoon, UK time), but we’ve been handed a limited preview of some of the properties on the list, as follows:

  • Candlewood Suites Anaheim – Resort Area, USA
  • Crowne Plaza Tianjin Jinnan, China
  • Holiday Inn Express Louisville Airport Expo Center, USA
  • Holiday Inn Express, Middlesbrough, UK
  • Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom, Thailand
  • Holiday Inn Frankfurt Airport, Germany
  • Hotel Indigo Krakow – Old Town, Poland
  • InterContinental Real Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Anything of note?

With an Intercontinental in the Caribbean, a Hotel Indigo in a prime weekend-break destination and a central Bangkok option, there’s something to chew on for most, even in that very limited list.

Otherwise, as soon as the full details are out tomorrow, we’ll update you.

Be aware of the highest possible smog alert in Krakow right now – it is not a destination you can consider if you have any respiratory system problems. Any outside activities must be limited to the necessary minimum. Please check the site below for more information:

This might explain this sudden appearance of Indigo in the PointBreaks list.

Having once looked at investing in a Polish power plant (a lifetime ago…), it didn’t come as any surprise to me to read a recent report (that I’ve lost track of) that showed that the most air-polluted places in Europe all happen to be Polish towns with big coal-fired power plants.

That said, the Indigo Krakow just opened in autumn 2016, and many new hotels end up on the PB list off-season to raise their profile. The hotel only has 56 rooms so you might only see 3-4 rooms per night offered as PB space.

P.S. I’m not sure why a HIX in MIddlesbrough is worthy of previewing, with apologies to northerners…
