Online survey site e-Rewards is enticing people to join its Hilton HHonors-linked scheme by offering 1,000 Hilton HHonors points when you sign up here, and complete just one survey within 90 days of enrolling.

Given that the one survey should take you no more than 10 minutes to complete, this is a very good way of earning a small chunk of Hilton HHonors points to add to your account.

What exactly is e-Rewards?

When you sign up to e-Rewards, you will be sent occasional emails with surveys. The surveys will then earn you points which, if you join via the link above, can be converted to Hilton HHonors points.

e-Rewards is not limited to Hilton HHonors points. If you join up to other schemes, such as their Avios-linked offering, you can earn further sign up bonuses (the Avios bonus is 750 Avios when you complete your first survey within 60 days). The key is to use a different email address per scheme.

Now whether or not you use e-Rewards long-term is up to you: some see it as a great way of earning a handful of extra loyalty points in their spare time, others don’t think the time spent necessarily justifies the reward. But, whatever your thoughts long-term, this enhanced sign-up bonus is a very good return on a small time investment.

Not exactly free Hilton HHonors points given the small effort required, but nor far off.

What will 1000 free Hilton HHonors points get me?

Well, not a huge amount by themselves, but amongst many other things, they get you 20% of the way towards a redemption night! More generally, you can access our overview of Hilton HHonors here.

I just signed up for this using the above link. Oddly, it doesn’t work when you click the link in Chrome but it does in Firefox.

Also oddly, E-Rewards asked me if I wanted 500 free Virgin FC miles as a free gift when I logged in, or no gift at all. No alternative for 1000 HHonors points. I said ‘no’. I’ll try and get the 1000 points later if they don’t appear, but I’m not sure the offer is still running as E-Rewards isn’t mentioned on the Hilton site.

By the way, you can buy HHonors points with a 100% bonus again.

The Ts and Cs for this offer state that

‘Points purchased do not count towards elite tier qualification.’

Would these points be valid if I used them to book 4 stays within 90 days in order to qualify for the Hilton Gold fast track?

    • Tom Sumner says

While Hilton points bought or earned outside of Hilton properties do not (as a general rule) count towards your status, any stays booked using these points absolutely will.

So if you bought Hilton points, or earned a vast amount on e-rewards, any stays you booked with these would help towards you attaining a higher HHonors status.

That’s why buying points during a bonus points offer, and then redeeming them for stays at low-category hotels (5k or 10k points a night) during a fast-track challenge can be a fantastic way to achieve elite HHonors status for minimal spend. You’re combining three value propositions here: 1) the points bonus, 2) the fast-track challenge and 3) the value of redeeming at low category Hiltons.

And the good news is there is currently a 100% bonus on Hilton HHonors points bought, until 3 June 2016.

Stay at the Hampton Newport for example, and you can get Gold status via a fast track for 20k HHonors points! Given the current 100% bonus offer, you would only need to pay for 10k points, so if you bought just the 10k points, the Gold status would cost you $100 (and that would include 4 nights at the Hampton Newport!)

Just to be absolutely clear, the 4 stays you need in the status challenge cannot be consecutive nights.

I have just received the 1000 Hilton points, so this is another win for Inside Flyer. Thank you!

I didn’t even have to complete a survey. I was filtered out of my first four surveys, but I still received an email saying I’d qualified for the points!

I filled out my details on the E-Rewards form an hour ago, and the points are already in my Hilton account. Miracle.

As regards the 100% bonus promo, I have bought some points. The Hampton Inn Newport is waaaay to far for me to go (and expensive to get to), but the Hampton Inn Liverpool Airport is more tempting. This is because a stay only costs 4000 points plus 23 quid.
